A book and a tee
Let’s talk a bit about taste. Taste, which was one of the cornerstones of philosophical aesthetics, itself a product of Enlightenment, has very much fallen from view in our times of “fast fashion”. To ask a person in the street “what is your taste?” is most probably going to result in puzzlement and a mere enumeration of the brands they intend to buy. This is especially true if that person is under 20. The idea of aesthetic taste as an individual trait has been fading for a while now under the pressure of advertising and social media. Can fashion exist only as a collective structure inside which the dress taste of individuals becomes irrelevant?
