::::I had to go to a wedding.
This is the dress I draped for the occasion.::I primi di giugno sono stata invitata a un matrimonio.
Questo è il vestito che ho disegnato e cucito per l’occasione.::::

::::It was the beginning of June and my schedule was crazy busy … well, it still is - side note: I need a vacation!
I had to fly out early morning on a Sunday, attend the wedding around noon and catch a plane back early the next day. It wasn't a marathon, it was a sprint! One thing that I was sure of when deciding what to wear was that I couldn’t be bothered with wrinkles and ironing - I barely had the time to have my hair done! That’s why I chose to use this particular fabric to drape my dress. It’s a stretch ultra-microfibre (ultrasuede type), 90%PL 10%SP. It’s low maintenance, has excellent absorbency and feels surprisingly fresh on the skin, although it was actually not a very hot day: 26-27 °C.::Giugno è stato un mese molto, molto impegnativo per me … non che luglio sia diverso - ho bisogno di una vacanza!
Volo di andata domenica all’alba, cerimonia verso mezzogiorno, volo di rientro lunedì mattina prestissimo; non è stata una maratona è stato uno sprint!. Mettermi a stirare vestiti in albergo era fuori discussione, a malapena ho avuto il tempo per farmi fare i capelli. È per questo motivo che ho scelto questo particolare tessuto per cucire il vestito. Si tratta di una ultra-microfibra (tipo ultrasuede) elasticizzata: 90%PL 10%SP. Non ha bisogno di cure particolari, ha un’ottima assorbenza ed è piuttosto fresca sulla pelle - anche se non faceva caldissimo: 26-27 °C.::::

::::The fabric was very easy to work with. I didn’t use my overlocker; everything is stitched either with a triple stitch or a shallow zig-zag. I pinked the seam allowances (I like pinking edges that do not fray; I think it makes a pretty finish and, of course, adds no bulk or weight at all). The hem and the wrap edges, I left raw.
I only pressed the seam lines, very carefully, using my silk organza pressing cloth.
I packed the dress in a cardboard box and put it on my suitcase. When I arrived at the hotel I took it out, brushed it with a clothes brush and let it hang for a couple of hours. No wrinkles, no ironing

The split neckline closes by tying together two woven miyuki beads strips finished with sterling silver caps.::Il tessuto è stato molto facile da tagliare, drappeggiare e cucire. Non ho usato la tagliacuci; tutte le cuciture sono fatte a punto triplo oppure zig-zag stretto. Questo tessuto semplicemente non si sfilaccia quindi ho lasciato l’orlo a taglio vivo e ho usato le forbici taglia campioni per rifinire i margini di cucitura: niente spessore e peso aggiunto.
Durante il confezionamento sono stata molto attenta a non stirare il tessuto; ho soltanto spianato le cuciture interponendo tra il ferro da stiro e la stoffa la mia pezza da stiro in organza di seta.
Ho piegato il vestito in una scatola di cartone che poi ho messo in valigia. Quando sono arrivata l’ho tirato fuori, l’ho spazzolato accuratamente e l’ho lasciato sull’appendiabiti un paio di orette. Perfetto! Niente grinze, niente stiro.

Per la chiusura dello scollo ho usato due strisce di perline Miyuki che ho tessuto a telaio e rifinito con terminali in argento sterling. ::::

::::This fabric also comes from Nooteboom Textiles; I was one of the five fortunate winners in Madalynne’s Best Sewing Blogs 2016 to receive sample yardage from them. I am guessing they chose the fabrics to send me based on their current collection and my past makes: I like viscose, I have no problems sewing stretch fabrics and I like a challenge. I am quite happy with their selection, it gives me the opportunity to try fabrics that maybe I wouldn’t have tried otherwise… ::Anche questo tessuto arriva da Nooteboom Textiles. Sono stata una tra le cinque blogger vincitrici del Madalynne’s Best Sewing Blogs 2016 che Nooteboom ha scelto per ricevere alcuni campioni di tessuto da loro offerti. Presumo che per decidere quali campioni inviare a quale blogger la Nooteboom abbia guardato le cose che ciascuna di noi ha cucito nel passato. Sicuramente hanno visto che a me piace molto la viscosa, che non ho problemi a cucire tessuti elasticizzati e soprattutto che non mi tiro indietro di fronte a una sfida. Mi piacciono i tessuti che hanno scelto; sono particolari e mi consentono di provare delle stoffe che sicuramente non mi sarebbe venuto in mente di comprare….::::
